Small Ceramic Dishes: a lovely collaboration with Touchstones.
Made by hand on the pottery wheel with black clay; the exterior is unglazed giving a tactile, matt finish, while the interior has a glossy Tenmoku glaze. Each piece is unique and will have its own character.
Designed for holding one of our tealight candles, but because the interior of each bowl has a food-safe glaze, they can be used as small condiment bowls for the kitchen or table. They would also make a lovely ring dish.
Each dish comes with a complementary tealight candle, but if you'd rather not have this, please let me know in the comments section at checkout.
Approximately 8cm diameter x 5cm high. Being a handmade piece, slight variations might occur.
CARE: Dishwasher safe but avoid the microwave. Sudden thermal shock between hot and cold transitions can craze glazes and damage ceramics.
ABOUT: Touchstones is a collection of work by Scott Donnell and Lisa Day. Their work is sustainably made in small collections, wisely using rainwater and energy, and ensuring any left over clay is recycled into new pieces. They create functional and decorative pieces from clay and stone that evoke the spirit of the places in New Zealand they travel to and experience.
Their collections are made slowly, nurturing mindfulness in the process, and are designed to encourage a sense of grounding in their use. Pieces are designed to be tactile, imperfect and evocative, often with honed surfaces created for touch. They try to capture the essence of the material that is used, its natural grains, flaws, texture, and strength.
These particular dishes were made by Lisa.
